Jobs and Minnesota’s Business Climate

Government needs to be there to support this growth for business and assist in getting people back to work as our economy recovers. The answer from the DFL is more of the same: “tax and spend”, which is the wrong answer to help this economy get back onto stable ground and moving forward.

Minnesota’s business tax rate is 3rd highest in the nation and we need to lower it to improve the job climate in our great state. My goal would be to create tax credits for business growth and job expansion to promote new business growth and expansion.

Government Control

Our DFL controlled Minnesota House and Senate is out of control.  They seem to think taxing our way out of a recession is the way to go. All local governments, county, city and townships, need to cut back. When the economy is in a downturn and families have to live with less, so too should government.

This continued path will lead us into bankruptcy and I don’t want to see Minnesota follow the California pattern of spending ourselves down a path of no return. We even have a President who thinks our country should follow California’s lead on many issues. I don’t believe California should be the example for Minnesota families, education, health care and certainly not our governing style.

Our country is also experiencing a rapid loss of rights and privileges that are being taken away by our government. We need to change legislative control from the DFL to allow our citizens to continue enjoying the freedoms and rights set forth by our Constitution. I do not want to see us go down the road of socialism where the DFL is taking us. The Republican Platform and my Platform call for the return of rights that are being taken away by the DFL Party.

I will lead the fight to protect our 2nd Amendment Rights and expand the reciprocity rights for those who have a permit to carry a concealed weapon.

I remember a day when as a child I said the Pledge of Allegiance and prayer in school. I’d like to see those privileges returned.  Our countries’ Constitution was written with Trust in God as its core value.

The amount of bureaucracy and red tape that has been created in Minnesota is staggering. I am in favor of a more efficient and effective government, accomplished by combining offices and branches of government. Minnesota has become this states largest employer and duplicates many services and that is unacceptable.

Education

Our current public education system is inefficient and in some districts ineffective. Our students are the losers in this current system.  Many countries in the world are passing us, by offering World Class Education.

We have to partner with our business leaders in Minnesota and offer summer programs for our students to expand their horizons. Consider helping our students understand how new techniques and discoveries are made through this new system while teaching math and sciences. Rather than paying for this through taxes, I’d propose to offer tax credits to corporate and private donations.

Your next Senator

We need a new Senator in District 25 who grew up on a Southern Minnesota farm, who understands the trials of families as we work to educate our children through post secondary school. You deserve a Senator who believes and practices traditional Christian values and has run a successful business in our area. You deserve a Senator who understands how to balance a checkbook and to know when money is short you reduce spending and prepare for the future in a fiscally responsible manner.

I’d like each of you to evaluate what is important to you in this next election in November of 2010.  Look at how our current legislators vote and govern.

My belief is legislators vote based upon where they are from and their life experiences.  If you want “tax and spend” legislators who learned their life lessons from liberal college professors and “think tanks”, and believe in having the government do more for you while taking property through taxation and regulations from someone else, I might not be your guy.

However, if you believe in the values of personal responsibility, being rewarded for hard work, ingenuity, strong Christian upbringing and beliefs, and having government stay out of your way to allow you to succeed, take a close look at me. I am strongly pro-life.
